Preparation (see guidance below for further details)
1. Imagine that you are applying for a job at your level (if you have no R
experience, this will be for an HR Graduate role).
2. Search for suitable jobs in the UK and choose one that you think is interesting
for you. This can be via an agency or directly via a company website. But the
company needs to be named in the advert.
3. Research the company strategy, mission and values.
4. Look at the job description in detail.
Task
Reflect on your suitability for the role and organization and analyse / reflect as follows:
A) Why am I the right candidate for the role? (200 words)
B) Why am I ideally suited to the company? (200 words)
C) Create a representation of (A) and (B) above in a creative format. You can use
photos, timelines, mindmap etc. to illustrate why you are the right candidate
and also suited to the company (equates as 200 words – do not worry about
wordcount)
D) Make sure the job description is an appendix to this task

Guidance
1. For example, if you will be a new M.Sc. graduate without work experience, find
a graduate role. If you are an HR Business Partner, apply for an HRBP role.
2. Websites and agencies include prospects.ac.uk, targetjobs.co.uk, reed.co.uk;
hays.co.uk; totaljobs.com, indeed.com and Michael Page.co.uk. Or look at a
company directly (placements are named at ratemyplacement.co.uk and these
may give you ideas)
3. Look at the slides from workshop 6 about this task and re-listen on lecture
capture to the guidance provided.
4. No references are needed, just the job description in an appendix to this task
A) Look at the job description in detail. What skills and characteristics are they
seeking? How do you match up to this? Be reflective about yourself.
B) Analyse yourself against their values. Use specific in-depth examples to illustrate
how your character matches to these values.
C) This needs to be anonymous, so do not use a photo of yourself.y
