- Essay structure:
- Introduction: states what key insights on international cooperative strategy are being reflected in the essay and why they are important.
- Main Body: This is where your arguments are developed fully and supported by relevant case illustrations. Make sure that your arguments are set out in a logical order and that any of your opinions follow from the line of reasoning that you have followed. It is important to sum up an argument before going on to the next section, or start a new section with a summary of what has been argued so far. This allows the reader to keep up with the thread of your argument.
- Conclusion: In this section you should summarise the main arguments you have made, bringing them together into a final overview.

When marking your essay, we will be assessing your knowledge and understanding of the concepts and theoretical perspectives covered in the module and your ability to apply this understanding to case examples. In this module, we have discussed the role of cooperation and its role in strategy, establishing cooperation (strategic rationales, partner selection, negotiation) and forms of cooperation, managing cooperation (governance and control, general management, learning), the impact of culture on cooperation, and performance and alliance evolution. An excellent essay should demonstrate the understanding of the possible interrelationships between these different lecture topics.
In additional to the 3 cases from the list, you could use Hero-Honda JV or another alliance as the 4th or 5th example in your essay.
