The essay gives you an opportunity to demonstrate your individual understanding of one
aspect of organizational behaviour theory and practice. You have a choice of following essay
titles:
1. What qualities does it take to be a good leader in modern organisations? Should
modern business leaders be ‘transactional’ or ‘transformational’ in their leadership
style or approach? Use examples to support your answer.
2. Evaluate the extent to which you believe that resistance to change is inevitable in
organisations. What can managers do to try to minimise resistance? Use examples to
support your answer.
3. Does the rise of interest in business ethics and corporate social responsibility mean
that business is becoming more ethical? What are the dangers and the benefits of
corporate social responsibility and ethical behaviour, for organizations? Use examples
to support your answer.
4. How important is understanding the role of organisational culture in modern
global/international companies? Evaluate the different ways in which managing
culture is important and if, or how managers can manage organisational culture in
large global firms. Use examples to support your answer.
