Prepare and deliver an individual oral presentation based on your
research into the sustainability and/or ethical issues (social,
environmental or economic impacts) relating to a particular product or
company.
You will be required to submit an essay of 1500 words, which will be an
individual piece of writing that demonstrates what you have learnt from
completing the oral presentation.
Guidance for your oral presentation
Before you present:
Submit a copy of your presentation proposal via the DLE
Sign up for a Zoom tutorial with your teacher
During the presentation:
provide an outline of your presentation.
explain your reasons for choosing the product or company.
present the key points and/or issues relating to the social,
environmental or economic impacts of your chosen product or
company.
refer to sources
critically analyse and evaluate the evidence you are using
provide a clear conclusion
After the presentation.
Submit a video of your presentation (digital file) via the DLE.
You will receive feedback on your individual language and presentation skills,
which you can use to help you identify areas for improvement.
Guidance for your essay
In your essay you should cover the following areas:
An overview of the presentation’s key aims and objectives: why did you
select the product or company and what was the key message you wanted
to communicate to the audience?
A summary of the information presented in your oral presentation. This
should be appropriately referenced to the sources you used to do your
research.
An evaluation/analysis of the way you prepared for the presentation, which
identifies the key strengths and/or weaknesses in the way you worked.
You should identify any relevant resources/strategies you employed to
help you prepare for the presentation.
An evaluation/analysis of the presentation: how do you feel you performed
overall (structure, flow, content, etc.)? What were the
strengths/weaknesses of your performance (language skills,
pronunciation, delivery, body language, etc.)?
A critical reflection on your personal experience: what did you learn from
giving the presentation? What would you do differently next time (be
specific)? What steps could you take to improve your
language/presentation skills (be specific)?
You should watch your presentation again and take the tutor feedback into
consideration.

Your essay mark will be based on:
Content: You need to provide an overview of your chosen product or
company and its social/environmental/ economic impacts and a clear,
concise summary of your research for presentation. In addition, you
should identify any strengths and weaknesses in the way you prepared
for and delivered the presentation.
Academic skills: You need to provide evidence of academic research
and analytical skills. You should reference the sources you used to
research your product or company and you need to integrate them
appropriately into your work (summary, paraphrase, quote).
Critically reflective skills: You need to demonstrate what you have
learnt from the assignment and you need to identify specific areas and
strategies for improvement.
Written language skills: you need to write in accurate and
comprehensible academic English.
