This assessment is an individual applied essay (3000 words limit, plus appendix and references), to
evidence your ability to apply the different theoretical perspectives covered in this module to analyse
the impact corporate governance can have on company performance at individual business and
country level. This coursework will address learning outcomes 2.
You are required to evaluate the impact of corporate governance on company performance. You
should focus on one form of corporate governance mechanism to analyse, such as board diversity,
NEDs, institutional investors, directors’ remunerations, disclosure quality etc. You need to collect as
much information as possible to support your evaluation. You should use reliable academic sources
such as company website, annual report, corporate governance report, regulating authorities,
government publications, journal articles or Bloomberg. You should include the following
information and evaluation.
(i) Introduction – your chosen company (suggested 500 words) 15%
(ii) Discussion of your selected corporate governance mechanism (suggested 750 words) 30%
(iii) Evaluation of the impact of selected corporate governance mechanism on your selected company
performance (suggested 1250 words) 40%
(iv) Conclusion – challenges identified and/or policy recommendations (suggested 500 words) 15%
