Final Consulting Project: Online Image Monitoring
Introduction
Main purpose is Consulting project is to address the issue of negative customer reviews and feedback affecting online image of Magnolia Hotel & Spa. The online image monitoring project examines the use and the performance of online tools, including social media networks in the hotel. The project aims to monitor and evaluate the online image of the organization. It also examines the impact of mentions on social media platforms on the company’s brand image, perception, and reputation. Ideally, the online image monitoring project entails the implementation of internet monitoring tools such as Google Alerts, social media queries, and Brandwatch.
implementation
The implementation of the online image monitoring project followed the five major phases. These include project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closing (PMBOK Guide, 2017). During the initiation process, the prepared project charter was submitted to the organization for approval. After careful consideration and discussion with the general manager, our hotel agreed to the project. I will assist the project manager to supervise the implementation of the project. Also, the project stakeholders were identified during the initiation stage. I was responsible for selecting the project team and assisting and overseeing the implementation of the project.
The second process involved project planning. The project manager (which is our general manager), sponsor, and team members collaborated to develop various project plans, including project schedule, scope, and budget. It was estimated that the online image monitoring project would take three months to be completed at the cost of $5000. The project manager also developed the communication plan that will be used during the implementation of the project. For example, project stakeholders hold monthly meetings to discuss project progress. The project manager also meets weekly with project team members to discuss project status. The daily progress is updated daily on the project website. Therefore, the project manager held a meeting with the project team to brainstorm to identify risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies. Finally, the project team developed a procurement plan to ensure the equipment required for the implementation of the online image monitoring project. These include identification and vet of software suppliers, contract signing and payment plans. Brandwatch and Google alert are considered the best tools to monitor the company’s brand reputation, image and mentions online.
The third involved the actual implementation of the online image monitoring project. The execution process focuses on the adoption of the project management plan (PMBOK Guide, 2017). During the implementation phase, social media monitoring tools, including Google Alerts and Brandwatch, they were selected for the project. After vetting the vendors, the procurement team started the purchase process. They placed the order and specified project expectations. The team ensures that all requirements are met before starting to install applications on the company’s computer systems. The IT and vendors technical team participated in the installation process. The following process involved testing and evaluation of an online image monitoring system. Therefore, the suppliers trained the staff on how to use and maintain the new system. All along, the project manager managed the implementation process, including managing teams, quality, and updates. The final step in the execution phase involved launching the project and initiating the monitoring and evaluation process.
Conclusion
After successfully implementing the online image monitoring project, the project manager closed it and handed it over to the project owner (Magnolia Hotel & Spa). However, before closing the project, the manager ensured that the project outcome met specifications outlined in the project plan. It was then submitted to the project sponsor and owner for verification. After that, the project manager terminated the project contracts, returned resources to the company, and documented project lessons.
During this implementation, my manager gave a lot of useful opinions and used his experience to guide the project, so that we can avoid many unnecessary expenses and maximize benefits. Although it is only a three-month plan, the hotel will always pay attention to the future improvement, both internally and externally, and obtain the support and trust of guests.
