6. (S) Blog posts are encouraged to connect to everyday life.
7. (C) Blog posts must include writing conventions that produce clear, jargon-free but scientific writing.
8. (C) Final drafts of blogs must contain a title and images (from free image sites or with cited images).
9. (C) Final draft blogs must contain a reference list.
STEPS in DRAFT WRITING:
1. Start with a topic and working title
2. Write an intro and make it engaging:
• Mention your main topic.
• Grab the reader’s attention.
• Describe what the reader can expect by reading the blog. What tool are you providing for the
reader (new information, problem, awareness, fun)?
• Start with a relatable example or story.
3. Outline your content
• Communicate one point in each paragraph.
• Be sure to keep your idea (what the reader can expect from the blog) in focus.
• When communicating points consider whether research is needed to convey the message.
4. Write: This can be hard because it is a creative process
5. Edit: Edit: Edit again (You have probably NEVER edited like you will for a blog)
