Overcoming Fears at Mount Ebbe
General Purpose: To tell a narrative story
Specific Purpose: To share a personal story of overcoming fears and self-discovery at Mount
Ebbe in Sweden
Thesis: In order for you to understand why this story turned out to be a turning point and
taught me, the essence of getting rid of fears and crossing through the imagined limitations. I
will share is about how my brief vacation at Mount Ebbe with friends changed my life.
Introduction
A quote worth reading from Eleanor Roosevelt said, “You gain strength, courage, and
confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.” Life is
made of moments that bend us but also bring out the best in us if we can still look up with that
healthy self-confidence. For me, my standalone moment took place in a typical summer time
of the year at Mount Ebbe, a day that is still written in my memory. Today, I hope to be able
to take you through an afternoon I truly like to call epic, where my friends Emma and Sam
were there with me to battle my fears and push myself beyond my comfort zone.

encouragement, which was strength and motivation throughout this
grueling adventure.

supportive friends would be at this time of great need. Truly, the right
company will be instrumental in ensuring that we get the zeal we need
to succeed by overpowering and overturning challenges.

support put me back on track, underscoring how important
companionship is in meeting any challenge.
b. Aside from the physical elements, the kind of emotional
revival from my friends ranging from understanding looks
and some great one liners was the one that cleared the cloud
of doubt on my mind proving the role of friendship as very
helpful in life’s journey towards personal excellence.
A. Carrying Forward: Applying the iessons is a sense of how this experience on
Mount Ebbe transcends what happened that day and affects how my future
path will be shaped.
1. The confidence I gained from that venture has since been key to
allowing me to apply it elsewhere in my life, turning challenges into
opportunities.

accompanying fears. I continue to explore and discover myself,

and embrace my inner power. Socializing with friends throughout our lives is not an
exception, but it gives rise to difficult times and is helped by the strength of friendship. They
help us to be daring enough and show our hidden strength to be able to go through the fears
we might not have known it was there before. As the panoramic views from Mount Ebbe do,
the experiences from such events would allow us to see life from a broader perspective and
our capabilities. We tend to be much more capable of many things than we realize in the first
