This assignment requires that you engage with and learn about a culture that is different from your own. The important consideration here is involvement, not just as a bystander or observer, but engagement with people from a cultural group other than your own.  Attendance at cultural events or rituals, spending time at places where people from the culture hang out, along with interviews of people from the culture are excellent ways to engage with the cultural group you select.  As you do your field experience, you will also support your understanding of the culture through research. 
For this assignment students are required to write a three to five page (double-spaced) paper that includes:
A description of the cultural experiences
Analysis of the experience using theories and concepts from the course
Support for field research through library resources (minimum 5 sources, 3 of which must be scholarly)
A summary of reflections on what you have learned from the experience
In layman’s terms I think you should be conquering this paper doing the following steps:

1) Choose a culture that you are not a part of to experience (remember culture is much more broad than race, sex, religion, etc. so most things you choose would probably be considered a culture)
2) Spend at least an hour experiencing that culture in whatever way you can (this could be through an online mediated experience if necessary).  I might also suggest interviewing someone from that culture (they can also be utilized for one of your 5 sources)
3) You will then construct your paper analyzing this experience through one or more of the chapters from the text.  As in you could explore the experience you had through the media chapter for example and how you observed this cultures presentation in media, how they react to it, etc.  You can focus on any concepts you’d like but I would suggest that you don’t try to implement too many as it makes your paper quite shallow. 
4) Remember that the core of this paper is really around the analysis of your experience.  This should not be a 5 page book report on how much fun you had going to a club (although I do hope you have fun doing this).  This paper should mostly be focusing on how you can apply the concepts you’ve learned in this semester to your real lived experience.

5) If you are confused on how to construct this paper I have also put in 5 samples in this module for you.  These are a bit longer than the one’s that I am asking you to write but the format is exactly the same otherwise.  Make sure to use the “good examples” as papers to emulate and not the one’s labeled “bad”.
