I hope you all are well. As you know the format of our exam must be adjusted because of current coronavirus crisis. For your convenience, I outline the main difference between the new format and that in the past for BEAM038/BEFM016.
1. Duration: You have 24 hours to complete the exam paper from the time of its release. This is in contrast with 2 hours in the past years.
2. Open book exam: This is an open book exam.
3. Format: There are two sections.
Section A: Answer any TWO out of FOUR questions.
Section B: This is a compulsory question.
Others are the same as past exams.
All questions are worth equal marks.

Approved calculators are permitted.
Option 2. An open-book non-invigilated paper that must be completed in a specified 24 hour period in your own time but with a fixed duration. The duration will be adjusted with respect to relevant Individual Learning Plans.

– Examinations and Assessments website correctly states that the Derivatives Pricing exam is classified as “Option 2 -An open-book non-invigilated paper that must be completed in a specified 24 hour period in your own time but with a fixed duration.”
To reiterate, the best preparation for the final will be to
1. Read the five papers, you should know where to access information from them, but you do not need to learn new concepts on your own, you should be able to efficiently find the concepts that we have discussed in class and be able to work with the concepts that we have discussed in class. I don’t expect you to reproduce any of the proofs form the papers, but to efficiently use the articles as a reference.
2. Review the ten tests that I have given you one each week
3. Review the PowerPoint presentations that I have gone through
4. Watch the recordings of the lectures
Option 1 & 2 exams
Assessment release times are now visible on the Examination and Assessments page. The times can be found in the final column, and are for British Summer Time. We’re having to have stagger release to reduce the pressure on our IT systems. This is therefore a sensible precautionary step.
While papers will be released via ELE, you will be submitting your answers via the eBart system. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with eBART, for guidance will be provided by the 28th April. At this point we’ll also provide information on how you’ll actually complete your papers and prepare them for submission.
