Semester 2 Task 5
You MUST attend 3 networking events in total (CIPD or other HR
specialist events) from either or both semesters 1 and 2.
1. Write a 600 word critical evaluation of the benefits of engaging in
these professional HR events. Consider why networking was
useful at these events and critically evaluate key aspects of your
learning. Consider why this knowledge and people network may
be useful in your future.
2. Some areas you may consider could be learning and
development, knowledge, expertise, career management,
external perspectives, stakeholder considerations plus any other
aspect you consider important
3. Refer to all 3 appendices below in this task and your work must
be theoretically underpinned.

Appendix 1 – critical overview of speaker and content at event 1,
Appendix 2 – critical overview of speaker and content at event 2,
Appendix 3 – critical overview of speaker and content at event 3.
You can use photos of yourself at the events as well as photos of any
key Powerpoint slides. Use them in the appendices.

If you have not been able to attend enough events, please
remember the CIPD student conference counts as 3 events. It can
be found at:

and will cost you £35 + VAT plus return travel to Leeds. It is your
responsibility to check if you are free and to book yourself on as
soon as possible as it will sell out.

Part of your reflection, especially if you use podcasts or other on-line
events, is what you have lost from your lack of face to face
professional contacts at events.
