The theme of the assignment is to critically evaluate the capabilities of Advanced Analytical technologies and techniques in different environments. You will set it in the context of making a strategic choice between the two environments for an organisation wanting to develop their use of Advanced Analytics. The organisation could be a business wanting to improve the efficiency or capabilities of their business, or perhaps a research organisation wanting to develop new capabilities, etc. Your report will provide appropriate conclusions and recommendations to the Executive Board of the organisation.
You will need to select a source of Big Data which you will use to compare and contrast two different analytics environments. Your choice of source will be governed by your ability to find realistic data of adequate volume to analyse with a suitable analytics environment. You will need to choose a sufficiently large set of data to stretch the capabilities of the environments to their limits of volume of data and their processing capabilities.
You will need to select two analytics environment such as SAS, R, Python, Watson Analytics JMP, Matlab, Tableau or any other environment which you want to use and has suitable advanced analytics capabilities. You MUST discuss the tools and the dataset you would like to use for the assessment with your tutor. You will need to teach yourself how to use the functionality of the technique you want to compare and contrast. (You cannot use MS Excel).
You will choose one Advanced Analytics capability from Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Predictive Analytics, Image Recognition and Analysis etc.
You will then develop your chosen environments to carry out the Advanced Analytics technique using your Big Data Source.
